How far does ten dollars go at the farmers market?
It’s a question we frequently hear from shoppers and one we constantly ask ourselves. So we decided to put it to the test with our new feature “$10 Haul.”
The SFMA crew will be regularly scouting seasonal produce, legumes, grains and edible plant starts (all eligible purchases with SNAP tokens and Fresh Bucks coupons) from our vendors. We’ll document our “hauls” with a photograph and share our edible discoveries in this space once monthly (and more frequently when spring arrives).
For our inaugural “haul,” we stopped by Nash’s Organic Produce, and here’s what we scored (pictured above):
- 1 bunch collard greens
- 1 leek
- 2 parsnips
- 3 beets
- 3 carrots
- 3 potatoes
