After a long winter's nap, Ballard's sister market in Madrona opens for the season this Friday, May 15.
Madrona will host more than 30 vendors this year, offering a mix of seasonal produce, flowers, sustainably caught fish, prepared foods, artisanal sips and savories, sweet treats and locally produced crafts. We're delighted to welcome back so many of your old favorites and introduce you to a dozen new vendors, including Jumanji Farm, a vegetable grower in Carnation, Wash.; artisan, dairy-free ice pops from Six Strawberries; Timber City Ginger Beer and wood-fired pizza pies from Vespucci Pizza, to name just a few.
Madrona is proud to kick off its cooking demo lineup with Chef David Mitchell, who runs the kitchen at Luc, Thierry Rautaureau's French-American cafe in Madison Valley. Chef David will show us how to whip up something quick and easy based on what's fresh in the market that very day -- a tasty way to kick off the weekend.
We'll ring the bell at 3 p.m. and stay open til 7, each and every Friday until September 25, and we've got lots of fun stuff planned to help your family make the most of the region's amazing bounty of fresh ingredients. Here's the scoop on the address, getting there and where to park.
