There's no bout adoubt it this week. Ballard Farmers Market has sweet corn. Lots of it. Still, it will go fast, so get there early. Find it from Alvarez, Ayala, Lyall and Magana. Oh, and Alvarez also has the first okra and eggplant of the season, too.
Alm Hill is the latest farm to add tomatoes to its tables. Just look at these beauties. You will also find tomatoes at Local Roots, Ayala, Magana, Oxbow, Billy's, and probably a few others, after this hot last week. And Alm Hill has a lot of new potatoes today, too, plus Billy's has artichokes.
Quilceda Farm has added this goat chorizo to its tasty selection of goat meat. Try some today, and see why goat is the most popular meat on earth. Of course, you'll find plenty of salmon, halibut, lamb, pork, beef, chicken and other farm-fresh meats throughout the Market.
These pearl onions from Full Circle Farm are a rare summer treat. Most people have never seen a fresh pearl onion, but the truth is, pearl onions come from farms, not cans or freezer bags. Still, very few farms locally grow them. Pearl onions are perfect paired with green beans -- also now in season -- and bacon, so make sure you pick up some of each during your visit to the Market today.
And from the "where do they keep coming up with these things" category are these peach-cots from Tiny's. And I was just getting used to apriums and pluots, too. What's next? Nectareachs?
