When my phone rang at 2:24 a.m., I thought, "Who the h..., oh, that must be Gene." It was. Gene Panida has confirmed to me that Wilson Fish will be at Ballard Farmers Market today with fresh, Washington coast king salmon. This fish was swimming on Saturday, so it is just hours out of the water. If you have never enjoyed some of Wilson's ultra-fresh king salmon, you have never tasted fresh salmon, unless you caught it yourself. And it won't cost you $35-$50 per pound to get it, either, nor did it require the enormous carbon footprint of an Alaska Airlines jet to fly it here.
Just be sure to get to the market early this morning, as Wilson will undoubtedly sell out early. (And no, there is still no halibut.)
